Staff away for the Christmas break and your main server fails.... are you prepared?

Is your business disaster prepared even when key team members are away for the festive break?

Cristie Management Console (CMC) is an extension for CBMR, NBMR and TBMR, allowing users to remotely manage server backups and recoveries, coordinated from a central console.

If you already have NBMR (NetWorker Bare Machine Recovery) or TBMR (Tivoli Bare Machine Recovery) or CBMR (Cristie's standalone Bare Machine Recovery) installed on your machines you can easily add the management console to provide further benefits to your systems and help manage downtime or scheduled recoveries better.

CMC means you aren't limited to recovering on-site and can provide multiple users with access to backup the required machines. Achieve greater flexibility, rapid reaction and recovery times and a streamlined response that is not hampered by staff holidays with CMC.

The recovery can be performed to similar or dissimilar hardware by local staff with no specialist IT skills, so that your business can be in control with the Cristie Management Console.

The Cristie Management Console puts you in charge of your Cristie BMR products by providing you with centralized control, eliminating the limitations of onsite recoveries and covering staff vacations or illness.

The CMC gives you the convenience of centralized control with all the power and functionality that you would expect, giving you the ability to manage backups in your enterprise environment.

CMC allows you to centralize your disaster recovery and backup response, simplifying and streamlining your disaster recovery plan across multiple environments and locations.

Cristie Software’s BMR software now available for EMC Products NetWorker and Avamar

PRESS RELEASE:
12th December 2012 - Stroud, United Kingdom

Cristie Software today announced that NBMR and CBMR will now be available for EMC NetWorker and Avamar end users.  NBMR provides a unique BMR solution for EMC NetWorker users as it recovers servers directly from NetWorker backups and without having to perform separate backups.  This reduces the requirements for both storage space and network bandwidth.

CBMR is Cristie Software’s standalone solution that integrates with EMC Avamar.

Cristie Software provides fast, automated recovery of downed servers whether to similar or dissimilar hardware.  Recoveries are typically completed in less than ten minutes and multiple servers can be recovered simultaneously.

Ian Cameron, CEO at Cristie Software said “Cristie are currently working to develop sales into their NetWorker and Avamar user base, and specifically  for those UNIX and Linux based users of the discontinued EMC HomeBase product.  We expect that NBMR will offer NetWorker users an excellent alternative, and are looking forward to 2013 and continuing to build a strong foundation for the future.”

To find out more about NBMR and CBMR please contact Cristie Software at sales@cristie.com.

Bare Machine Recovery for EMC NetWorker 8

EMC NetWorker (formally Legato) users can deploy NBMR for their Bare Machine Recovery requirements.

NBMR - Cristie Software's NetWorker Bare Machine Recovery solution provides restore capabilities to NetWorker covered machines and is now available to order direct through EMC Brokerage.

NBMR 6.4.2 supports:
  • NetWorker Server 8.0, 7.4 SP5, 7.5 SP4, 7.6 SP1, 7.6 SP2 and 7.6 SP3
  • NetWorker Client 8.0, 7.4 SP5, 7.5 SP4, 7.6 SP1, 7.6 SP2 and 7.6 SP3
Cristie have seen an increased interest in the NBMR solution since EMC's HomeBase was announced as End of Life in August 2012. NBMR works in a different way to HomeBase, as NBMR recovers the server to an identical state at a given point in time from NetWorker whereas HomeBase would redeploy the OS and applications and the server would therefore not be identical.

NBMR is unique in its ability to recover directly from NetWorker without requiring any additional backup to be performed. This means that (unlike other BMR software products) NBMR consumes no additional storage or network bandwidth. NBMR also has the advantage of not requiring a separate backup application to be installed, managed and monitored. NBMR also provides the ability to recover the original machine or to new dissimilar hardware or even to a virtual machine.

NBMR works exclusively with EMC NetWorker and is re-sold globally by Cristie's channel partners as well as via EMC Brokerage directly.

NBMR is available for all major Operating Systems:
The main features of Cristie's BMR solution for NetWorker:
  • Backups and restores performed by NetWorker, retaining the features and advantages of that software
  • Multiple servers can be recovered simultaneously
  • Designed to maximise speed, flexibility and simplicity of use
  • Rebuild a server OS in under ten minutes
  • No separate backup software to install, schedule and administer
