Latest version of Bare Machine Recovery for Networker now available
As part of our continuing support of the
NetWorker Client, Cristie Software’s disaster recovery solution for Networker
has been updated to version 6.5 for Windows. Version 6.5 will now see full
support for Windows 2012 and Windows 8 in conjunction with EMC NetWorker client version 8.0 SP1 (8.0.1).

Bare Machine Recovery for EMC NetWorker 8
EMC NetWorker (formally Legato) users can deploy NBMR for their Bare Machine Recovery requirements.
NBMR 6.4.2 supports:
- NetWorker Server 8.0, 7.4 SP5, 7.5 SP4, 7.6 SP1, 7.6 SP2 and 7.6 SP3
- NetWorker Client 8.0, 7.4 SP5, 7.5 SP4, 7.6 SP1, 7.6 SP2 and 7.6 SP3
NBMR is unique in its ability to recover directly from NetWorker without requiring any additional backup to be performed. This means that (unlike other BMR software products) NBMR consumes no additional storage or network bandwidth. Why do I need an additional BMR product for NetWorker?
The Bare Metal Recovery feature that is included with NetWorker provides a good solution for Windows 2008/2008R2 and Windows 7 machines but does not currently support any other operating systems and has limited support for recovery to dissimilar hardware. Along with EMC announcing end of life notice for HomeBase product on the 12th August this year, what other software can EMC NetWorker customers use for BMR?
Cristie Software’s NBMR (NetWorker Bare Machine Recovery) solution will provide value to NetWorker users who need a heterogeneous solution to support all their Windows Platforms (2003/XP through to 2008/2008R2) as well as their Linux, Solaris and AIX machines. In addition NBMR allows recoveries to completely dissimilar hardware (to both physical and virtual machines) and supports NetWorker Server/Client Versions 7.4 SP5 to 8.

With EMC announcing end of life notice for HomeBase on the 12th August this year, what can EMC NetWorker customers use for Bare Machine Recovery (BMR)?
Cristie Software can provide a simple solution with the product NBMR - bare machine recovery for NetWorker.
NBMR provides fast automated recovery for users of EMC's (formerly Legato) NetWorker. In the event of a server failure, NBMR will recover the operating system and applications direct from the NetWorker backup. The recovery can be to the original or to new dissimilar hardware or to a virtual machine.
NBMR is unique in its ability to recover directly from NetWorker without requiring any additional backup to be performed. This means that (unlike other BMR software products) NBMR consumes no additional storage or network bandwidth. NBMR also has the advantage of not requiring a separate backup application to be installed, managed and monitored.
NBMR offers a solution that unlike EMC's HomeBase product, it will recover the servers to an identical state at a given point in time from NetWorker, in comparison to HomeBase would have had to redeploy the OS and applications and the server therefore not be identical.
EMC NetWorker (formally known as Legato NetWorker) centralizes, automates, and accelerates data backup and recovery, NBMR works exclusively with EMC NetWorker and is re-sold globally by its channel partners as the recommended BMR solution for NetWorker Users.
